Bob Moul Joins appRenaissance as Chairman and CEO

Veteran technology executive and entrepreneur to spearhead growth of mobile solutions innovator

PHILADELPHIA--()--appRenaissance (www.apprenaissance.com), a leading provider of mobile applications and infrastructure, announced today that Bob Moul has been elected chairman and CEO of the company effective February 1. He joins founder and Chief Technology Officer Scott Wasserman who founded the company in 2010.

The announcement of Moul as CEO and the choice of Philadelphia for appRenaissance’s headquarters were heralded by Mayor Michael A. Nutter in his annual speech to the Greater Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce yesterday. “On the heels of the news that Philadelphia had the third highest job growth in the tech sector nationwide, Bob's decision to stake his next venture here is one more vote of confidence for this city as a growing hub for the tech economy,” said Mayor Nutter. “We are thrilled, and look forward to seeing exciting things from Bob and appRenaissance in the very near future.”

A highly regarded leader in developing, growing, and leading technology-based software and services companies, Moul was most recently the president and CEO of Boomi, pioneers of cloud middleware software, which was acquired by Dell in November 2010. Previously Moul was president of SCT’s $300mm global education solutions business leading up to its sale to SunGard in 2003. He also enjoyed a 19-year career at EDS where he held senior management positions including director of EDS’ operations in Hong Kong and China, and executive director of its federal government business in Australia.

“appRenaissance could not be more pleased to add Bob to our team and for Bob to help take the company to the next level,” stated Wasserman. “Bob has demonstrated a proven ability to innovate, scale, lead and succeed at building growth-based technology companies repeatedly over his 30-year career.” Wasserman added, “We could not ask for a better partner to help us shape and build appRenaissance than Bob.”

“I look forward to working with Scott and the great team that’s been brought together at appRenaissance,” Moul commented. “Mobility is the next great wave in technology both for enterprises and consumers and represents a market opportunity of unprecedented size. In working with Scott and the team since last year I’ve become convinced this is the perfect platform from which to scale a major industry leader in the mobility space and I am all the more excited to do so here in Philadelphia where we have an incredible amount of mobile thought leadership and talent.”

In addition to joining the company as CEO, Moul will be chairman of its board of directors. appRenaissance’s board includes president and CTO Scott Wasserman, Richard Rasansky co-founder of Mobile Monday and CEO of Yorn, a local Philadelphia investor and entrepreneur Michael Carter who is CEO of BizEquity.
