INDIANAPOLIS--()--America’s biggest football championship game is powering up for an electric evening of sporting entertainment between the New England Patriots and the New York Giants on February 5, 2012. For the 22nd year, Aggreko, the global leader in temporary power and temperature control solutions, will provide large-scale power generation and heating for the entire event, which is taking place in Indianapolis at Lucas Oil Stadium.
“In the 22 years Aggreko has provided temporary utility support for the big game and its many festivities, this is our largest installation of heaters, generators and cable to date”
Aggreko’s major events division will power everything from lighting and video during Madonna’s half-time performance to stadium security. Aggreko will also provide power and temperature control for the international media compounds broadcasting the event to a worldwide television, internet and radio audience, several celebration sites and VIP areas.
Services include:
• 25 MWs of generator power - enough for approximately 10,000 medium-sized homes
• 8500 kW of heating
• Approximately 50 miles of cable distributed in and around the stadium - enough for 20 laps around Indianapolis Motor Speedway
“In the 22 years Aggreko has provided temporary utility support for the big game and its many festivities, this is our largest installation of heaters, generators and cable to date,” said David Prince, Senior Project Manager, Aggreko. “The enormity of this job demands Aggreko to find creative ways to install and monitor 300 temporary utility solutions around much of Downtown Indianapolis while keeping the area safe and not interfering with the enjoyment of fans.”
Aggreko will have the support of its national network of more than 50 service centers and a team of 20 dedicated employees, who began installing the complex array of equipment five weeks prior to kick-off. The dismantling process will take 10 days.
Aggreko is highly experienced in providing reliable electrical power and climate-control solutions for television broadcasts, movie productions, the world’s largest sporting events, concert tours, major corporate events and the most high-profile events in the world, including the 2009 Presidential Inauguration and the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympic Games.

Aggreko provides power and temperature control solutions to customers who need them either very quickly, or for a short or indeterminate length of time. Examples would be the supply of power to an industrial site which needs to service its permanent power supply, supplying a whole city in times of power shortage, or providing a major sporting event with power and cooling systems. We serve our customers either through our 148 service centres, which we call the Local business, or globally through our International Power Projects business.
In the Local business, which accounts for about half of our revenues, we hire our equipment to customers, who then operate it for themselves, although we retain responsibility for servicing and maintaining it. In the International Power Projects business, which also accounts for about half of our revenues, we operate as a power producer. We install and operate power plants and we charge our customers both for providing the generating capacity, and for the electricity we produce. We design and manufacture equipment specifically for these requirements in our factory in Dumbarton, Scotland.
Recent customers include the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games and the power utilities in over 50 countries including the UK, France, Angola, Kenya, Indonesia, Bangladesh, Venezuela, Chile, Brazil and the USA.
In 2010 we fulfilled almost 40,000 customers’ assignments and when researched, 68% of them gave us a recommendation of 9 or 10 out of 10.
