IntertechPira: Dr Eric R. Fossum, Inventor of the CMOS Active Pixel Sensor to Speak at Image Sensors 2012

LONDON--()--IntertechPira have announced the agenda for their 5th annual Image Sensors conference, bringing together both legendary experts and outstanding newcomers from the imaging world.

Taking place 20–22 March 2012, Hotel Russell, London, the conference will present more than 20 speakers discussing the latest trends and advances. The spectrum of applications covered includes best in class imaging technology from healthcare, aerial, broadcast, mobile communications, automotive, security, defence, space, astronomy and industrial sectors.

Keynote presentations will be delivered by inventor of the CMOS imager Dr Eric R. Fossum, the legendary Dr Nobukazu Teranishi of Panasonic, camera guru Mats Wernersson of Sony Ericsson and NASA’s award-winning Dr Samuel Harvey Moseley.

Dr Fossum will provide the grand keynote on the Quanta Image Sensor (QIS) and a possible paradigm shift for the future. Dr Teranishi will speak on Dark Current and White Blemish, Mats Wernersson will discuss trends and technologies in next generation camera phones, and Dr Moseley will present on high performance imaging detectors for space astrophysics.

Also covered is photogrammetry - Udo Tempelmann, Leica Geosystems will review aerial imaging technologies and markets. In 3D imaging, Softkinetic’s Daniel Van Nieuwenhove will examine trends in gesture recognition technology. Healthcare imaging is featured with comprehensive insight into innovations in medical imaging systems, and Olympus will be presenting on technical aspects of medical endoscopic imaging. Also making an entrance is security - imaging experts Bosch, Sagem and Pelco Schneider have been selected to review this market and its vast potential.

Two directional sectors have been included in this year’s programme which act as beacons for the rest of the imaging world to follow - broadcast and space. Contributions will come from the BBC as well as Japanese Broadcasting Corporation NHK.

Lindsay Grant, Imaging Division Process Manager, STMicroelectronics, will be co-chairing the conference and expressed the following in anticipation of the event:

“To have some of the key inventive pillars behind modern imaging technology presenting will make this conference very special for all those attending. IntertechPira’s Image Sensors conferences have grown strongly in recognition and popularity over the years, and for 2012, I expect a lively, constructive mix of strong technical presentations, Q&A and business.”
