OTTAWA, Ontario--()--Solace Systems, the leading provider of hardware-based middleware, today announced that Harris Corporation has selected Solace’s Unified Messaging Platform to enable the communication of mission critical data as part of the Geostationary Operational Environmental Satellite - R Series (GOES-R) program. Developed jointly by NASA and NOAA, the project will be an important tool to support detection and observation of weather, thereby leading to better and more accurate forecasts.
Solace message routers will enable the low latency, high availability messaging backbone of the satellite ground system. Harris chose Solace after an extensive evaluation, in which Solace was shown to improve messaging throughput and latency while providing a fault tolerant platform. Additionally Solace’s technology was shown to ease integration effort by providing a hardware appliance rather than the traditional software solution.
The first launch of a GOES-R series satellite is scheduled for 2015.
