New Renaissance Institute Announces New Biochemistry Research Scientist

SAN MATEO, Calif.--()--New Renaissance Institute (NRI®) is pleased to announce Pooncharas Tipgunlakant has joined its interdisciplinary science and technology research team as Biochemistry Research Scientist.

Tipgunlakant brings a wide range of talent, knowledge, experience, and research innovation experience in biochemistry (protein science, contemporary laboratory instrumentation technologies, pathogenic biomarkers) and pharmaceutical science (drug development, method validation, quality control, and drug regulation compliance). In academic research she has worked in extensive detail with Nitric Oxide Synthase (NOS), Calmodulin (CaM) and a number of key signaling proteins central to cell operation, cell apoptosis, and disease processes. Tipgunlakant collaborated on recently published research pertaining to unexpected roles of water molecules in heme pockets of Myoglobin and Hemoglobin as well as associated allosteric behaviors of Hemoglobin, and papers on her other protein science research results are forthcoming. Tipgunlakant’s active expertise includes biochemical signaling in disease, particularly in cancer processes. She has both industry and academic experience in ADME pharmacokinetics, therapeutic pharmacodynamics, and safety pharmacology, as well as familiarity with medicinal computational chemistry methods in drug discovery and miniature sensor technologies employing biomarkers. In her pharmaceutical industry work in Thailand, Tipgunlakant was directly involved in requirement advising (legal and scientific), the corroboration, collection, and evaluation of scientific data from quality control, production, and clinical sources, and preparation of formal registration materials presented to the Thailand FDA.

Tipgunlakant will be contributing to NRI’s research and development for next-generation computer models for nonlinear dynamical processes in biochemical signaling as well as to micro-instrumentation and biochemical application process design for NRI’s innovative software-reconfigurable microprocessor-operated microfluidic “lab-on-a-chip” technologies.
