Philly Startup Leaders Announces Bob Moul as New President

PHILADELPHIA--()--Philly Startup Leaders (PSL) proudly announces Bob Moul as its new President. Bob joins the PSL Leadership Team having recently concluded his tenure as President and CEO of Boomi. A proven veteran of building companies of all sizes and leading them to profitable outcomes, Bob brings a combination of management and entrepreneurship experience to PSL at a time when many of its member companies are also addressing the challenges and opportunities of managing their growth and expansion.

Bob spent the first 20 years of his career rising through the ranks from mailroom clerk to senior management at EDS. In 2000, he joined SCT as President where he led the education business to ten consecutive record quarters of growth culminating in its sale to SunGard. Bob continued his technology career as Group President of Maximus and then moved into the position as President and CEO of Boomi where he had been a member of the Board of Directors. He helped raise Boomi’s first venture capital and led its transformation into a leading cloud infrastructure provider culminating into a successful exit to Dell in November 2010. He is a graduate of the University of Maryland with a MS in Technology Management and the University of Michigan’s Executive Program in Business. Bob was also a 2011 Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year finalist in Philadelphia.

“It’s a real honor and privilege to be asked to lead PSL through the next phase of its mission,” said Moul who recently left Dell to pursue his next venture. “Philly has an incredibly vibrant startup community and a creative culture that is unmatched in the nation. My main goal will be to help this community continue to flourish.”

With the assistance of the PSL Leadership Team and its Advisors, Bob will be leading the next steps that ensure PSL is providing the support necessary to keep pace with the tremendous growth of the Philadelphia technology and startup community.

“Attracting a successful and universally respected serial entrepreneur like my friend Bob Moul to lead PSL is testimony to the importance of PSL’s mission and he no doubt will propel even further PSL’s role as a centerpiece for invaluable cross-fertilization and networking among early stage tech company founders and key executives,” said Steve Goodman, PSL Advisor and Partner at Morgan, Lewis and Bockius.

Stephen Tang of the University City Science Center said, “Bob brings a great set of experiences to the role of PSL president as an entrepreneur and a leader. Not only has he started up companies and managed successful exits, but he’s established himself as a go-to resource person in Greater Philadelphia’s entrepreneurial ecosystem. His insight and experiences will help PSL navigate its steps as a valuable resource for the region’s startup community.”

Chris Cera, Chair of the Board at Philly Startup Leaders, said, “Bob is a rare breed as both a proven startup entrepreneur and senior executive. He went from leading a very successful corporate career to running a startup, and most executives cannot make such a dramatic transition. He is among the most accomplished entrepreneurs in Philadelphia and so I am ecstatic that he will be moving the startup and technology business community in Philadelphia to the next level.”

PSL plans a community gathering in January as an opportunity to meet Bob in person and hear his initial thoughts on plans for the future. Details will be announced soon.
