Purebred Breeders Refutes NBC Today Show and Humane Society Story

COOPER CITY, Fla.--()--The NBC Today Show report on Purebred Breeders grossly misrepresented our company and the work we do, day in and day out to ensure that only the healthiest and best-bred puppies reach our families. The story did not reflect the overwhelming majority of our breeders who are animal lovers and do their best to raise healthy puppies.

The Humane Society of the U.S. (HSUS), who is behind the story, is a lobbying group that has a history of attacking organizations that are involved in the business of breeding and selling pets. According to the Humane Society for Shelter Pets, in 2010, HSUS raised over $131 million from the public and gave less than 1% of those donations to local humane society pet shelters. The Humane Society’s lead plaintiff raised their complaints with the Florida Department of Agriculture which dismissed them within two days upon receiving Purebred Breeders response.

Purebred Breeders has a comprehensive breeder screening process and breeders must abide by strict code of ethics. We have a thorough review process and make every effort to only work with the best breeders available. To ensure that is the case, we have begun a top to bottom review of all our breeders. Any evidence that our high standards are not being met will result in excluding those breeders from our family. We have a Re-Homing program that adopts back pets from any customer to prevent their pets from going to a shelter.

The company has placed puppies with thousands of families over many years. All puppies placed undergo a thorough physical exam by a licensed veterinarian prior to arriving at the customer’s home. Customer care representatives review the extensive Breeder Health Report completed on each puppy to ensure there are no known health issues prior to delivery. Customers are required to then take their puppy to their own vet within 48 hours. Of all the families we have worked with since 2008, only a handful of customers have chosen to join this complaint. The company had already resolved or attempted to resolve all the issues that these customers previously brought to its attention and each customer received or was offered either a full or partial refund.

An independent survey of all of our customers over the past year was recently completed with over 2,000 responses received. Purebred Breeders received a 4.61 out of 5 overall experience rating, with over 94% of customers giving the company a 4 or 5 overall excellent rating.
