Gleacher & Company Hires Industry Veterans to Strengthen Emerging Markets Group

NEW YORK--()--Gleacher & Company Securities, Inc., a broker-dealer subsidiary of Gleacher & Company, Inc. (Nasdaq: GLCH), today announced that three industry veterans have joined the Emerging Markets Group within the firm’s Corporate Credit Division. Mauricio De La Torre, Managing Director, Michael Krumenacker, Managing Director, and Christina Ronac, Director and Senior Emerging Markets Credit Analyst, will all be based in the firm’s New York City headquarters.

About Mr. De La Torre

Mr. De La Torre is a seasoned investment professional with over 20 years of experience in global asset management, proprietary trading and credit risk management. Before joining Gleacher & Company, Mr. De La Torre was the chief investment strategist at Hamershlag Sulzberger Borg, and also held several senior investment banking, trading and asset management positions in New York, London and Miami at HSBC, Deutsche Bank, Citibank and Coutts & Co., with extensive experience in emerging markets.

About Mr. Krumenacker

Mr. Krumenacker has significant experience in sales, management and business development. Previously, he was Director of Business Development at Taum Sauk Capital Management (TSCM). Prior to TSCM, he was the Founder and Managing Partner of a privately-held real estate investment and development firm, and also served as President of Maxcor Financial Inc., the broker-dealer subsidiary of Maxcor Financial Group, Inc., where he also directed the company’s emerging markets and credit derivatives departments.

About Ms. Ronac

Prior to joining Gleacher & Company, Ms. Ronac served as Vice President and Emerging Markets Analyst at Macquarie Capital where she was instrumental in the development of its Latin America and CEEMEA sell-side research effort. Prior to Macquarie, she was a Senior Credit Opportunities Analyst at Sandell Asset Management covering distressed and high-yield credits. Ms. Ronac held similar roles at Goldman Sachs Asset Management and Deutsche Bank.
