Continua Health Alliance to Launch Continua-India at International Telemedicine Congress 2011

BEAVERTON, Ore.--()--Continua Health Alliance, an international, non-profit, open industry organization of healthcare and technology companies dedicated to improving the quality of personal healthcare, today announced it is joining together with the Telemedicine Society of India (TSI) at International Telemedicine Congress 2011 (Telemedicon ’11) in Mumbai November 11-13 to launch the Continua-India working group.

The Alliance, dedicated to establishing a system of interoperable personal connected healthcare solutions, invites companies interested in personal connected healthcare to attend the launch of Continua-India to learn more about leveraging technology for chronic condition management, a critical issue for India and many other nations.

On November 12, TSI and Continua will host a business reception to network and provide additional information on the Alliance and how a local presence can make a difference in personal connected healthcare.

On November 13, U.S. Chief Technology Officer, Aneesh Chopra will discuss the importance of global healthcare IT market innovation in improving care access and affordability for all.

Continua Board President, Clint McClellan will present “An Overview of International Activities with Connected Health” and will be joined by Apollo Hospital Group’s CEO Dr. Pratap Reddy, B.S. Bedi, Standards lead for Ministry of IT, Dr. Malpani, Executive Director of HELP and Dr. Sudhir Gupta, Addl, DDG, Director of Health for NCD’s, Government of India.

Executives from Continua, including member companies Intel, Nokia, Qualcomm, Sasken, and Texas Instruments, will also present “Why Continua: the Benefits of Interconnected Devices and Systems.” During this time, both India based companies and international firms will be demonstrating innovative products and their potential for interoperability through Continua standards.
