LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--NEXON Co. Ltd., a worldwide online gaming innovator and pioneer of the microtransaction business model, has announced that revenue at its North American business unit, Nexon America, Inc., grew 29 percent in the third quarter compared to the same period in 2010. This marks Nexon America’s ninth consecutive quarter of year-over-year revenue growth.
Nexon America’s third quarter was highlighted with the launch of the award winning and critically acclaimed “Dragon Nest,” an online action multiplayer role-playing game. “Dragon Nest,” developed by Eyedentity Games for Nexon, had a successful third quarter launch and has been lauded by gaming press including IGN, which gave it their “Editor’s Choice” designation.
“We are pleased with the continued rapid growth that we are seeing in North America,” said Nexon America CEO Daniel Kim. “Our engaging content and microtransaction-based business model continue to attract new players and to delight our existing players. It is clear that our efforts to deliver what’s-next-online are paying off.”
Nexon is entering the fourth quarter with plans to deliver next-level games across a variety of platforms. Nexon recently announced that “Zombie Misfits,” a tower defense game on Facebook, has entered its open beta phase. In November, Nexon will add the PC-based, online first-person-shooter (FPS) “Sudden Attack” to its portfolio. Additionally, “MapleStory Adventures” will officially launch in November, exiting an extremely successful open beta phase on Facebook. Nexon is also supporting the November launch of “Combat Arms: Zombies,” a version of its popular FPS for the iOS mobile platform, powered by Unreal Engine 3.
