Progressive Viewing is a popular feature designed to minimize response times when executing large reports on demand and viewing them in the browser. The feature allows Actuate BIRT content consumers to immediately enjoy the first and consecutive few pages of content immediately as they are generated, while the remainder of the document is completed in the background, as opposed to waiting for all pages to be generated before a page can be viewed.

BIRT Studio is the web-based ad-hoc authoring environment for BIRT. In 11 SP2, bookmarks can be placed in a design to identify important elements in the output, especially if the content is to be published or reused as dashboard KPIs. As such, end users can then include bookmarked content in their dashboards or jump directly to this content from a hyperlink.
