TwitchTV Brings on Gaming Industry Veteran Jonathan Simpson-Bint

World’s leading video game broadcasting community ramps up business development and revenue strategy

SAN FRANCISCO--()--TwitchTV, the world’s largest video game broadcasting community, today announced that video game industry veteran, Jonathan Simpson-Bint, has joined the TwitchTV team as chief commercial officer.

Mr. Simpson-Bint joins TwitchTV at a time of strong growth, where he’ll help build and expand key business relationships within the video game industry, including leading game publishers, consoles, leagues, tournaments and other gaming media organizations. He will also be integral in expanding TwitchTV’s long-term advertising product and revenue strategy.

“We’re at an important juncture in TwitchTV’s growth,” said Emmett Shear, CEO of TwitchTV. “Mr. Simpson-Bint is a veteran executive with a sharp eye for what makes a product work and really understands how we can best help our partners.”

An Englishman by birth, Mr. Simpson-Bint came to the U.S. in 1993 as part of the original Future Network USA management team. Between 1994 and 1999 Jonathan launched a number of highly successful products including the magazines Next Generation, PSM: 100% Independent PlayStation Magazine, and web portals IGN.com and DailyRadar.com.

In 2001, Mr. Simpson-Bint became president of Future U.S. and oversaw a period of significant growth for the company fueled by acquisitions in the games, music and sports markets, as well as overseeing the company's success in becoming official publisher to Microsoft, Sony and Nintendo.

He left Future U.S. in the summer of 2009 and has since worked with a variety of start-ups including Loud3r.com and Blue Sky LightGrid, as well as serving as Co-Chair of MI6, the only professional organization for video game marketers.

“I witnessed TwitchTV’s entry into the industry and closely followed their impressive expansion over the last few months,” said Jonathan Simpson-Bint, chief commercial officer at TwitchTV. “Live video game streaming is a key growth area in the gaming media industry and I see great potential for the company. It’s a team full of bright, ambitious people and I can’t wait to dig in.”
