HORSHAM, Pa.--()--In recognition of World Arthritis Day, AcurianHealth today announced results from its most recent survey of rheumatoid arthritis (RA) sufferers. Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a serious, long-term disease that causes swollen joints, pain, stiffness, and tiredness for 1.5 million American adults.
“Our survey results show the RA community’s desire for new treatment options to combat this devastating disease”
In an AcurianHealth survey with over 700 arthritis sufferers, 55% of respondents with RA said they had an unsatisfactory response or intolerance to past RA medications. The survey also revealed that over 90% of respondents with RA would be interested in enrolling in a clinical research study. Ongoing clinical research studies (www.MyStudyForRA.com) offer alternatives for those with RA who are looking for possible new treatment options. World Arthritis Day provides a unique opportunity for RA sufferers to review their current treatment options and show support for advancing RA clinical research.
“Our survey results show the RA community’s desire for new treatment options to combat this devastating disease,” said Rick Malcolm, Ph. D. and CEO at Acurian. “AcurianHealth is currently helping clinical research doctors find people who are taking medicine for their RA, but are seeking possible new treatments. We are dedicated to advancing science for RA.”
Acurian, the corporate entity to AcurianHealth, salutes the efforts of World Arthritis Day. This day of awareness was established in 1996 by Arthritis and Rheumatism International (ARI) and is celebrated each year on October 12. For those who suffer from this debilitating disease, every day is an RA day. AcurianHealth supports the scientific work being done to combat RA by helping research doctors find volunteers for several national clinical studies. These studies provide another option for those with RA who may not be satisfied with their current treatment.
