Matt Spiegel Former Omnicom Digital Media Executive Joins In-Game Advertising Innovator, Tap.Me as Its New CEO

Significant traction around Tap.Me’s vision for in-game engagements triggers a new chapter for the Chicago based start-up.

CHICAGO--()--Tap.Me, creators of the gaming industry’s revolutionary non-interruptive advertising platform, today announced the addition of investor and board member Matt Spiegel in the role of Chief Executive Officer. Founder Joshua Hernandez will continue to serve in the role of Executive Vice President and Chairman of the Board.

“We have been growing exponentially since our announcement at the Game Developers Conference in March of this year,” said founder Joshua Hernandez. “With over 2,000,000 users touched by our in-game engagements across 25 games and working with some amazing brands such as Redbox, the time to scale our business is here,” he noted. Adding, “In our quest to unify the games and advertising industry, experience matters; Matt’s digital media and advertising background, combined with his previous experience as an entrepreneur made him the right choice to lead our business going forward. He’s a great complement to our already strong founding team.”

Before Tap.Me, Mr. Spiegel held multiple roles at Omnicom Media Group, which he joined six years ago when Omnicom acquired Resolution Media, the search marketing agency Mr. Spiegel founded in 2003. Most recently, he served as CEO of OMG Digital, where he led the development of new technology and media buying solutions for the agency community. He also served as an “intra-preneur” and launched Accuen, Omnicom’s trading desk. As CEO of Tap.Me, he will focus on optimizing the fusion of new technology platforms, data, and media for the gaming market, the next frontier for ad buying.

“Throughout my career I’ve been part of and led businesses introducing new advertising models.” said Mr. Spiegel, “I believe strongly that in-game advertising will be the next model that scales and Tap.Me is uniquely positioned to profit from this opportunity.”

The Tap.Me platform creates new unobtrusive ad experiences with the tools that make buying into in-game advertising easy, scalable and effective. With the Tap.Me platform marketers can participate in millions of hours of game-play in a truly meaningful way, by becoming a part of the game experience and helping players win.

“I’m very excited to be joining the team,” commented Mr. Spiegel. “Josh and his fellow founders are doing a great job building a truly differentiated product that is attracting significant interest from game developers and marketers. Having invested early on and assisted in their growth as a board member, my role now as CEO is to build upon that momentum.”
