Dennis Sadlowski Joins International Battery as New CEO

ALLENTOWN, Pa.--()--International Battery, Inc. (www.internationalbattery.com), a U.S. developer and manufacturer of large-format Lithium-ion-based energy storage systems today announces:

• Dennis Sadlowski, formerly CEO of Siemens Energy & Automation, assumes the position of Chief Executive Officer;

• Mark P. Mills, the Company’s current Chairman of the Board, assumes the position of Executive Vice Chairman;

• Dr. Ake Almgren, the Company’s current Chief Executive Officer, retires as CEO and becomes Chairman.

Dennis Sadlowski brings world-class executive experience and vision to International Battery as it expands to more broadly deploy its leading-edge solutions for customers in the smart grid, utility, industrial, solar, military and large-vehicle markets. Sadlowski was previously President & CEO of Siemens Energy & Automation, a Siemens Operating Company focused on power distribution and industrial automation. He has deep experience in energy and industrial markets, advanced manufacturing, and customer-centric strategies. Sadlowski’s addition to the team comes at an ideal time to guide the Company’s growth in serving emerging and established storage markets.

With Sadlowski joining as CEO, Dr. Ake Almgren will retire as the CEO and become Chairman of the Board. In addition, Mark Mills, becomes Executive Vice Chairman to focus on strategic relationships and technology strategy for the Company.

International Battery’s storage systems’ competitive advantages derive from the company’s unique HyperClass™ large-format lithium-ion prismatic cells which are ten to fifty times larger than industry standard cells, and its environmentally friendly HydroMax™ manufacturing process which employs water as a solvent instead of industry-standard, hazardous N-Methyl Pyrrolidone (NMP) solvent. International Battery’s cells and systems have been tested and validated by numerous customers, and by national labs including, Hydro Quebec, Argonne, KEMA and the Electric Power Research Institute.

About Dennis Sadlowski

Mr. Sadlowski previously served as President & CEO of Siemens Energy and Automation where he was responsible for eight operating divisions with multiple production and R&D facilities in the U.S. and Mexico. He served on the Board of Directors of Siemens One, Siemens Corp Research, and the Siemens Foundation. He earlier served as COO, Vice President Power Distribution & Controls, and prior to that as Vice President of the Siemens Factory Automation Sensor group.

Before joining Siemens, Mr. Sadlowski was Vice President and General Manager at Thomas & Betts. He began his career with a decade at General Electric. Mr. Sadlowski has been a Member of the Georgia Tech Board of Advisors, and the Board of Governors of the NEMA and MAPI. He holds an MBA from Seattle University, and a BS in Chemical & Nuclear Engineering from the University of California at Berkeley.

About Mark P. Mills

Mr. Mills is President of Digital Power Capital LLC, an affiliate of Wexford Capital LP. He served as International Battery’s CEO in late 2008 and early 2009. Previously, Mr. Mills co-founded and served as Chairman and Chief Technology Officer for ICx Technologies, Inc., which underwent an IPO in 2007 and was sold to FLIR Systems in late 2010. He serves on the Advisory Board of Northwestern University’s Engineering School and writes the Energy Intelligence column for Forbes magazine. He has also served as a technology advisor for Bank of America Securities Inc. and was coauthor of the Huber-Mills Digital Power Report. Mr. Mills served as a staff consultant to The White House Science Office under President Reagan and holds a BSc Honours, in Physics from Queen’s University, Canada.

About Dr. Ake Almgren

Dr. Almgren has served as the CEO of International Battery since early 2009. He spent 26 years with ABB Ltd., including roles as worldwide Business Area Manager for Distribution Transformers (managing 36 plants in 27 countries), President of ABB Power T&D Company, President of ABB Power Distribution, and President of ABB Power Systems. Dr. Almgren has also served as President of Autoliv, and from 1998 to 2003, he was President and CEO of Capstone Turbine Corporation. He currently serves on the boards of PJM Interconnect LLC and Active Power. Dr. Almgren holds a Ph.D. in Engineering from Linkopings Tekniska Hogskola in Sweden and a Masters of Mechanical Engineering from the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, Sweden.
