Gluster Named Winner in 2011 InfoWorld Bossie Awards

Leading open source storage provider’s scale-out NAS solution recognized as one of the best open source data center and cloud software solutions of the year

SUNNYVALE, Calif.--()--Gluster, the leading provider of scale-out, open source storage solutions, has been announced as one of IDG’s InfoWorld 2011 Bossie Award recipients for best open source data center and cloud software. The InfoWorld Bossie Awards recognize each year the best business-oriented open source software products. Gluster was named among other leading innovative open source projects.

“In every software category worth mentioning, you'll find a competitive open source solution. And in some cases, open source is the only solution,” said Doug Dineley, executive editor/test center, InfoWorld. “Our 2011 Bossie Award winners represent the best that open source has to offer in application development, desktop productivity, mobile computing, and the data center.”

At the core of Gluster’s storage solutions is GlusterFS, an open source, distributed file system that is deployable from terabytes to petabytes and currently being used in several petabyte-plus deployments. Gluster’s software-only storage solution allows enterprises to deploy storage as a virtualized, commoditized, and scale-out on-demand storage pool. Enabling IT organizations to deploy scalable, high performance, and highly available storage, Gluster radically improves storage economics to help control skyrocketing storage costs.

“We are extremely pleased to be named a winner of the 2011 Bossie Awards,” said Ben Golub, president and CEO of Gluster. “We are dedicated to developing and providing GlusterFS users with the best open source storage solution available and our market traction and customer adoption is proof of this. We are honored to be recognized by InfoWorld for our efforts.”
