PHILADELPHIA--()--Waypoint Outcomes, a Philadelphia-based learning and assessment software company with clients in North America and Europe, announced Wednesday it has entered into an agreement to provide its software to High Point University, NC, the third highest-ranking institution among Regional Colleges in the South according to U.S. News & World Report magazine.
“Waypoint is a unique technology solution that will help us achieve our teaching goals.”
The University will implement the software in its introductory writing courses to support rubrics that foster cognitive development, to facility in-depth feedback from faculty on student work, and to track student progress, according to Dr. William J. Carpenter, Associate Professor of English.
“We have very high standards for the quality and quantity of feedback our students receive, and we strive to inspire students to reflect on their work and become more effective, life-long learners,” Dr. Carpenter said. “Waypoint is a unique technology solution that will help us achieve our teaching goals.”
Waypoint’s electronic grading palette enables professors to speeding the overall grading process and free time for more feedback. Further, the software collects and stores both grades and feedback, enabling academic departments to analyze learning patterns and administrators to compare learning across programs and branches.
“Waypoint brings an efficient and immersive experience to the personal review and mark up of student work. Our goal is to bring enjoyment and value to what is often considered a chore by educators: grading papers, commenting on presentations, evaluating lab work and similar activities,” said Andrew J. McCann, CEO and Founder of Waypoint Outcomes.
“Because Waypoint makes it easy to collaborate around the design and use of rubrics, we can help institutions aggregate data across multiple course, academic programs and campuses. Our Authentic Analytics reporting tools create an unprecedented view into the learning happening on campus,” said McCann.
