NMS Labs Offers Testing Aligned with Pennsylvania’s Legislation Banning Synthetic Drugs Found in “Bath Salts”

WILLOW GROVE, Pa.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--In keeping up with drug abuse trends, NMS Labs has developed substance identification tests for the nine “bath salts” compounds listed in the recently approved PA Senate Bill 1006.

These psychoactive chemicals purchased for the purposes of getting high, but packaged as “bath salts” are not currently regulated by the Federal government, but have been banned by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and a handful of other states. The drugs involved include mephedrone and MDPV. While they are not illegal to possess in every state, most states have laws that make it illegal to drive while impaired by any chemical or drug. The “bath salts” identification tests are an essential complement to the comprehensive services that NMS Labs has been offering to the law enforcement community, which were developed and performed according to accreditation standards set by the American Board of Forensic Toxicology (ABFT) and the American Society of Crime Laboratory Directors/Laboratory Accreditation Board (ASCLD/LAB).
