Dexter + Chaney Chosen as National Sponsor of Construction Equipment Management Program (CEMP)

One of only three firms designated by premier equipment-management consulting firm

SEATTLE--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dexter + Chaney (www.dexterchaney.com) has been chosen as a national sponsor of the Construction Equipment Management Program (CEMP), a premier equipment-management consulting firm serving the heavy/highway, civil, infrastructure and general construction industries. Dexter + Chaney, developer of Spectrum® Construction Software, is one of only three companies named by CEMP as a national sponsor; the others are John Deere Construction and Forestry Equipment and Castrol, developer of industrial lubricants.

“We’re just one of many organizations in the construction industry that consider Dr. Vorster’s and CEMP’s construction-equipment methodology to be the world’s best. Spectrum supports that methodology, and thus Dexter + Chaney customers will ultimately benefit from it.”

As part of its relationship with CEMP (www.cempcentral.com), Dexter + Chaney will co-sponsor CEMP’s annual four-day management development program for construction equipment managers Sept. 19-22, 2011 and Nov. 14-17, 2011 at the Georgia Tech Hotel and Conference Center in Atlanta. The conference is an intensive, limited-availability event where construction professionals are immersed in four days of classes covering all areas of heavy-equipment management and maintenance.

The program has exceeded its attendance expectations for the September course which is now at full capacity, resulting in an additional set of dates on Nov. 14-17, 2011; course content will be identical. CEMP is dedicated to maintaining a quality program with small class size and as such, attendance at the November course will be limited to 25 registrants. Instructors are Dr. Michael Vorster and Andy Agoos, CEMP partners and internationally known experts in maintenance and optimization of heavy equipment for construction.

Dr. Vorster is David H. Burrows Professor Emeritus at Virginia Tech, author of Construction Equipment Economics and a member of the National Academy of Construction. He is the academic advisor to the Association of Construction Equipment Managers (ACEM) and a consultant to construction companies throughout the U.S. Agoos is a charter member and former president of the ACEM and 20-year member of the Association of Equipment Management Professionals (AEMP); he has more than 40 years of experience in executive equipment management.

In addition to the annual conference, Dexter + Chaney also will work closely with CEMP to implement into Spectrum CEMP’s methodologies for equipment management that are based on decades of field experience and academic research. Dexter + Chaney began its relationship with CEMP in mid-2011, when Dr. Vorster presented two equipment-management sessions at Dexter + Chaney’s annual users’ conference.

“We’re delighted that Dexter + Chaney has agreed to join CEMP as a sponsor,” said Dr. Vorster. “Our policy is to invite only three very well-regarded companies involved with diverse areas of construction-equipment management that are in the top drawer of American business. Dexter + Chaney certainly fits that description, along with Castrol and John Deere Construction and Forestry Equipment.”

John Chaney, Dexter + Chaney president and co-founder, explained that Dexter + Chaney and CEMP form a natural partnership: both organizations are dedicated to helping construction companies optimize equipment management, and each brings decades of experience to the task.

“We are absolutely thrilled about our relationship with CEMP,” said Chaney. “We’re just one of many organizations in the construction industry that consider Dr. Vorster’s and CEMP’s construction-equipment methodology to be the world’s best. Spectrum supports that methodology, and thus Dexter + Chaney customers will ultimately benefit from it.”
