VANCOUVER--()--WordLogic Corporation, a provider of advanced predictive text software for smartphones, PC’s and other devices, has announced that Joseph Flicek, a leading technology and patent licensing strategist and President of Blake Technologies, Ltd, has been retained to serve as Licensing Executive.

Mr. Flicek served as Director of New Ventures at Science & Technology Ventures at Columbia University from 1996-2001. The New Ventures Office helped to start 46 companies; 41 of these collectively raised almost $1 billion in venture and public market financings and are still active. Columbia is the top university for patent licensing with average annual earnings of $150 million and over $1.5 billion since 1983.

Mr. Flicek also co-founded and served as CEO of DataTern, Inc., a database software licensing and technology company that acquired strategic patents. Under his leadership DataTern went from zero revenues in 2007 to over $5 million in 2008, its first full year of operations. In 2009, DataTern had revenues of over $7 million and net income of $1.5 million, and had more than 25 licensees.
Previously, he was Managing Director of Amphion Innovations plc, a UK-based technology venture capital and private equity fund, and either served on the board of or played a part in managing several other technology start-ups. At WordLogic Mr. Flicek will be working closely with Michael D. Flom, Senior Vice President of Mobile Technology.
