Hoka Hey Motorcycle Challenge Signs David Roma TV Film Deal for the 2011 Trans-USA Endurance Event

MESA, Ariz.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The Hoka Hey Motorcycle Challenge announced today that it has signed an exclusive agreement with Academy Award nominee David Roma, of Amor Factory, to produce a feature-length documentary on the August 2011 event and the riders taking part. Hollywood-based David Roma is a widely acclaimed film and television producer, whose credits include the TV shows “Snoop Dogg’s Father Hood,” “Hogan Knows Best,” and the “Miami Ink” franchise that is in its third spin-off. Most recently, Roma produced the documentary film “Gasland” which was nominated for an Academy Award in 2011. In 2010, his documentary “Off the Chain” became part of a groundbreaking Supreme Court First Amendment case.

Future plans for media cooperation between the Hoka Hey and David Roma include a television miniseries and an interactive website to allow a worldwide internet audience to follow the progress of the riders.

The Hoka Hey Motorcycle Challenge is the world’s premier motorcycle endurance challenge and is sponsored this year by Harley-Davidson. In 2010 the event was won by motorbike enthusiast Will Barclay, who captured the winner-take-all prize of $500,000, taking just over 8 days to complete the detailed navigational course from Florida to Alaska. In a change from last year, the top 25 finishers will receive cash prizes and H.O.G. Club members may be eligible for additional prizes including a 2012 CVO motorcycle!!

It is intended that all riders (Challengers) will be interviewed as part of the filmmaking process and many will appear in the final TV film produced. In addition, participants may volunteer to be part of the filming by carrying high-definition video cameras mounted on board their motorcycles. Roma also plans to use fast-moving mobile film units including helicopters to capture the action and spirit of this amazing event from start to finish.

The Hoka Hey Challenge is open to all riders of Harley-Davidson motorcycles, from the US and worldwide. While registration is still open at this point, organizers of the 2011 Hoka Hey may need to limit the number of riders this year in order to facilitate the making of the film. The 2011 Hoka Hey Challenge starts on August 5^th, 2011 in Mesa, Arizona and ends in Nova Scotia, Canada, with the course covering all 48 contiguous US states. Riders with less time available may take part in selected stages of the Challenge only. The deadline for riders to register for this year’s event is August 4^th, 2011.
