KANSAS CITY, Mo.--()--AMC Theatres® (AMC), a leading theatrical exhibition and entertainment company, will have a major presence at this year’s San Diego Comic Con, highlighted by the launch of the AMC Movie Memories Facebook application. The Facebook app officially launches at the popular convention, which begins July 21.
“Guests are passionate about their moviegoing experiences and we’re excited to provide our 1.4 million Facebook fans a social platform to facilitate and share those experiences”
With the Movie Memories application, anyone who “likes” the AMC Theatres’ Facebook page can share their favorite movie memories via a story, photo or video. Their friends can then vote for them to become AMC Theatres’ Fan of the Week. A new winner is announced each week and winners receive a $100 AMC gift card and recognition on the AMC Theatres Facebook page.
“Guests are passionate about their moviegoing experiences and we’re excited to provide our 1.4 million Facebook fans a social platform to facilitate and share those experiences,” said Anita Newton, vice president of retail and digital marketing at AMC Theatres.
As part of the launch, guests are encouraged to follow @AMCTheatres on Twitter and tweet their movie memories with the hashtag #amcsdcc for a chance to win free movies for a year. One winner will be chosen daily during Comic Con, from Thursday, July 21 to Sunday, July 24.
The Movie Memories Facebook application is just one of several key initiatives at Comic Con for AMC Theatres. The company will once again hold the Masters of the Web panel Thursday, July 21, at 4 p.m. The panel moderators are director Brian Taylor (CRANK, GHOST RIDER: SPIRIT OF VENGEANCE) and producer Ari Arad (IRON MAN, GHOST RIDER: SPIRIT OF VENGEANCE), with panelists Jen Yamato (MovieLine), Scott Biggs (senior editor of Film School Rejects), Peter Sciretta (editor-in chief of Slashfilm), Vic Holtreman (editor-in-chief of Screenrant), Anne Thompson (Thompson on Hollywood) and Mike Sampson (senior editor of JoBlo). Attendees will receive $12 promotion cards good for a free AMC Stubs membership, and one lucky attendee will win free movies for a year.
In addition, AMC and Poynt, the makers of a popular mobile search application, will again host the exclusive “From Dusk ’Til Con” event Friday, July 22, at the Stingaree in the Gaslamp district.
Finally, for those attending San Diego Comic Con, a special AMC Stubs offer will be available near the convention center. AMC Stubs is the company’s new loyalty program, providing members with benefits such as credit for every dollar spent at AMC’s box office and concession stand, $10 credit for every $100 spent, free upgrades on popcorn and fountain drinks, no online ticketing fees and a virtual movie stub book that updates automatically when guests see a movie and use their AMC Stubs card at AMC.
