ARLINGTON, Va.--()--CE Week, which concluded June 25 in New York City, featured a weeklong series of technology events across the city, including the CEA Line Shows, Digital Downtown Conference, CEA Demo Suites and Axpona. The press conferences, product launches, conference sessions and networking events drew thousands of media and CE industry professionals from across the nation.

The CEA Line Shows brought together the top CE innovators to exhibit their latest products, including: Chrysler, Intel, LG, Mitsubishi, Monster, Motorola, Philips, Pioneer, RCA, Scosche, Sprint, Tiffen, Toshiba, Vizio and Westinghouse Digital.
Natali Morris, who served as the Digital Downtown conference chair, kicked off the event by introducing Shawn DuBravac, chief economist and director of research, Consumer Electronics Association (CEA)® and his “Mid-Year Reality Check” presentation.
DuBravac explained that unit volume of Internet-enabled TVs is up nearly 160 percent year to date. He also offered data on the booming tablet computer market. “In 2010 in the U.S., total tablet and smartphone sales eclipsed total PC sales; for 2011, that will be the case worldwide,” said DuBravac.
In addition to product displays from more than 70 exhibitors at the CEA Line Shows, conference session highlights included a keynote from Gary Shapiro, president and CEO of CEA, who announced the launch of the Declaration of Innovation, an online pledge for Americans to sign in support of policies that ensure innovation remains the strategic advantage of the U.S. Other sessions featured discussions from top-name panelists on Internet safety, 3D entertainment, green technologies, hot products for 2011, technology retailing, tablets and apps, social media and more.
GeekBeat.TV with host Cali Lewis and co-host John Pozadzides broadcasted live from the show floor at CEA Line Shows and provided coverage of the latest news and announcements, as well as conducted interviews and demonstrations with exhibitors, speakers and attendees. Over 500,000 people tuned in from their homes to watch the live coverage.
Shelby.tv, a new browser-based service that pulls in videos from YouTube, Vimeo, Dailymotion, Blip.tv and TechCrunchTV that have been posted by your friends and the people you follow on your social networks, won the NY Tech Start-Up Classic, produced by NY Tech Meet Up. As part of its prize, Shelby.tv wins free exhibition space at the 2012 International CES, the world’s largest consumer technology tradeshow, to be held January 10-13 in Las Vegas.
Seagate’s GoFlex Satellite, the first battery-powered external hard drive to wirelessly extend the storage capacity of any Wi-Fi enabled mobile device, won the CEA Line Shows Best in Show award via attendees’ vote using a new QR-coded social networking platform, Skanz.
CEA Demo Suites and AXPONA featured more than 100 companies who introduced the high-performance home entertainment experience to the media, trade and consumers on June 24 and 25. Exhibiting manufacturers included Access Networks, Audio Design Associates (ADA), D-BOX Technologies, Digital Projection, Dolby, JVC, KEF, Mark Levinson, Meridian Sooloos, Revel, Somfy, Stewart Filmscreen, and Steinway Lyngdorf.
Maureen Jenson, editor-in-chief of CustomRetailer, CEDIA Electronic Lifestyles and E-Gear magazines, hosted three panels, focused on the high-end and the future of residential and commercial custom integration, during the Lifestyle Technology Summit on Friday morning.
