Alfresco and Ephesoft Announce Technology Partnership

Alfresco and Ephesoft Integration Unlocks the Power of Content Capture Technology to Enhance Collaboration and Productivity

LONDON--()--Alfresco, the open platform for social content management, and Ephesoft, the cloud-ready capture company, today announced their technology partnership to bring an advanced capture solution together with Alfresco’s superior enterprise content management (ECM) platform. The companies have been working closely together to deliver an integrated customer solution and already have many common business partners worldwide across financial services, insurance, healthcare and government sectors.

In the past, capture technologies have been the least automated business processes at most enterprises, resulting in substantial labour costs and huge inefficiencies. ECM tools such as Alfresco add an automated workflow element to capture processes while at the same time improve further intelligence to documents that have been captured electronically via the use of imaging. For instance, Alfresco can be used by branch banks and insurance agencies to route a document to the right destination, specify the workflow path the document needs to take, where it needs to be stored, from where it can be retrieved and by whom.

This integration is based on Alfresco Enterprise 3.4 and Ephesoft Enterprise 2.2 using the industry CMIS open standard. Ephesoft manages the document capture via scanners, email and fax to create searchable PDFs with metadata tags. As part of Ephesoft’s processing, documents are “learned’ so they can be automatically classified and separated from other documents, saving both labour, expense and time. Additionally, key data elements are read and saved to enable further business process automation with Alfresco.

“We are very excited to integrate Ephesoft into the Alfresco Platform to enable customers, partners and developers to unlock the power of our proven content repository,” said John Newton, Alfresco CTO. “By utilizing the benefits of open source, the range of possible applications for content and capture optimization is infinite from mortgage loan processing, to the digitalization of medical records to the preservation of historical and cultural documents to accounts payable processes. The partnership with Ephesoft furthers our growth with intelligent document capture technology at a fraction of the price when compared to proprietary offerings currently on the market.”

The synergy of the partnership between Ephesoft and Alfresco reinforces the value proposition of both companies, which allows any organization to enjoy a world-class capture-ECM solution within the open source framework. Both Alfresco and Ephesoft have similar business models and neither charges initial license fees or user charges, only annual software support fees. Users can now currently deploy these solutions at a much lower cost and realize a faster ROI.

“Alfresco is the rising star in the content world and Ephesoft feels this same type of innovation is now needed in the capture sector. With Ephesoft, we have introduced comparable capabilities, but at a much lower cost so the SMB market can now also enjoy the same features with the associated savings,” said Don Field, CEO of Ephesoft.

Both Alfresco and Ephesoft are speaking at the upcoming event, “Enterprise-ready Open Source Software Solutions for Financial Sector” on June 29th at Hilton London Docklands Riverside, to register please visit: http://www.cignex.com/events/enterprise-ready-open-source-software-solutions-financial-sector
