BOCA RATON, Fla.--()--The prestigious Sunshine State Award in the Serious Feature Reporting category (small print/online) was awarded to Lisa Lucas, investigative reporter for Boca Raton magazine, for her story “Crisis Management.”
“We couldn’t be more proud of Lucas”
“Crisis Management” provides a haunting behind-the-scenes look at the emergency medical services delivered by Miami doctor Barth Green and his volunteer team in the days following the Haiti earthquake of January 2010. Lucas’ feature detailed the life-saving work in Port-au-Prince done by Green and his Project Medishare team under the most desperate conditions.
“We couldn’t be more proud of Lucas,” said Boca Raton magazine editor Kevin Kaminski. “She never fails to go the extra mile—and then some—when reporting for Boca Raton.”
The Sunshine State Awards, presented by the Society of Professional Journalists’ South Florida chapter, were awarded Saturday night at a ceremony at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel in Hollywood.
