Avram International Strikes Partnership and JV with South African Companies; Focus on Mining Logistics in Africa

INDIANAPOLIS--()--Avram International, the global logistics division of Avram Worldwide, has through its interest in Vunani Logistics entered into a Joint Venture with South African based Concargo (Pty) Ltd. The Joint Venture will provide integrated logistic services to Avram’s US based clients looking at expanding their business in emerging markets and will simultaneously focus on providing integrated logistic services to Africa’s lucrative mining industry. It is expected that the joint venture will create further employment opportunities at the Indianapolis office.

Vunani Logistics was jointly established in 2009 by Avram Worldwide and South African based Vunani Capital for the purposes of extending Avram’s international footprint to Africa. Concargo is a well-established project logistics company, with extensive reach in sub-Saharan and Equatorial Africa. The minority controlled joint venture will utilize existing technology and infrastructure to provide services such as transportation management, purchase order management, international freight forwarding, customs brokerage, warehousing and delivery to jobsites across the African continent. This will be done through a dedicated staff compliment based in South Africa, drawing from the expertise of Avram Worldwide’s operations at their home base in Indiana.

Brighton Dube, Partner and Director of Avram International, explained the rationale for the joint venture:

“The joint venture not only extends Vunani Logistics’ footprint to emerging markets in Africa, but also allows us to remain true to our core business, which is the provision of cost-effective and value added supply chain and logistics solutions in a dynamic market.”

“The combination of Concargo’s African expertise and Vunani Logistics’ solutions will benefit our national clients who are always looking to be as efficient and competitive as possible, and allow them to take advantage of our joint services to grow their businesses in the emerging market,” said David Plew, President at Avram Worldwide.

The JV will provide customers with user-friendly and seamless technology, real-time order processing, complete order transparency, dedicated account management, and transportation management.

David Kruyer, Chairman at Concargo, was equally confident. “With Avram’s expertise in Transportation Management, our clients now have access to additional services and capabilities. Concargo’s vision has always been to provide our customers with distribution and communication channels that are cost effective; our partnership fulfills this vision and more.”
