Research and Markets: Global Developer Population and Demographic Study 2010 Volume II

DUBLIN--()--Research and Markets (http://www.researchandmarkets.com/research/290edf/global_developer_p) has announced the addition of the "Global Developer Population and Demographic Study 2010 Volume II" report to their offering.

Welcome to the 2010 edition of the Evans Data Corporation Global Developer Population and Demographics Report (Vol. II). As the market for software development tools, techniques, technologies and services has grown more diverse, to include vast diversity across different geographic locations, it is increasingly important to have critical demand side market intelligence to understand how this data effects your business plans, and just as importantly, your business model. This report provides the most current and comprehensive software developer market data marrying EDC's proprietary global developer population modeling with the results of its recently fielded worldwide survey of over 1200 developers. It augments information found in EDC's syndicated reports by showing exactly how populous specific segments of the developer market are and how they are shifting.

While basic data about technology adoption is helpful and provides a context for strategizing around specific markets, population studies are key components that, when available, impart a sense of how different and unique specific locales are. What may hold true for Silicon Valley developers may not necessarily be so for programmers in Hyderabad, India. Population studies help to highlight the complexities that set these two regions apart. Understanding that varying contexts exist for information technology also allows the planner to escape making ethnocentric assumptions about discrete populations.

The 2010 Volume II update of Evans Data Corp.'s Global Developer Population and Demographics Report revisits the initial estimates for global developer population found in earlier reports. It takes into account the realities of the economic downturn that began in 2008, and continued through 2009, and the possible stirrings of recovery in 2010. Externalities such as changing economic indicators, updated census information, varying human development levels, reductions in information technology spending, and the introduction of new technologies, among other factors, are weighed in the forecasting for the regions featured in this report. Additionally, country-level changes are also considered when deriving the final weighting factors that allow a developer population to be calculated. This current volume represents our most current view of the global developer population, reflective of the present economic and technological environment.

The primary objective of this report is to provide baseline and forecast estimates for regional and global software developer populations and insight into adoption of various tools, technologies and languages. The information in this study will estimate specific developer target markets' size in order to provide clients with an accurate gauge of the developer audience they are trying to attract. This study is intended for use by venture capitalists, software development tools vendors, server software vendors, operating system vendors, middleware vendors, and any other software manufacturer whose products target developers or who are impacted by the opinions and attitudes of software developers.

The larger goal of this survey series is to provide a resource for software vendors that will assist them in creating products that are useful, desirable and readily accepted in the marketplace. This survey series provides highly valuable information for strategic decision-making about future product direction, as well as for product positioning, messaging and marketing. Evans Data Corporation recommends that this study be used in combination with its companion survey series: the Global Development Survey series in order to completely understand the full scope and complexity of the developer layout worldwide. This report combined with the Global Survey Series provides the most comprehensive view of developers on a global basis.
