COLUMBUS, Ga.--()--Carmike Cinemas, Inc. (NASDAQ: CKEC), a leading entertainment, digital cinema and 3-D motion picture exhibitor, today announced that Daniel E. Ellis has been named to the positions of Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary, effective August 1, 2011.

Mr. Ellis brings a wealth of legal and corporate business experience to his new roles at Carmike, having most recently served as Executive Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary at hotel franchise owner and operator Lodgian, Inc. and LSREF Peach Investments, LLC, a private equity firm (affiliate of Lone Star Funds) that acquired Lodgian in 2010. Mr. Ellis was employed at Lodgian since 1999.

Mr. Ellis will report directly to Mr. Passman.
Prior to working at Lodgian, Mr. Ellis was an Associate Attorney at Stokes Lazarus & Carmichael, LLP (1997-1999) in Atlanta and between 1995 and 1997 he was Assistant District Attorney for the State of Georgia. Mr. Ellis graduated from Mercer University with an MBA, completed his Juris Doctor, Cum Laude, at University of Mississippi and received a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Georgia Southern University.
His affiliations include State Bar of Georgia, Treasurer of Georgia’s American Corporate Counsel Association chapter and Board Member of the Foster Care Support Foundation of Georgia.
