IRVINE, Calif.--()--Getac Inc., a leading innovator and manufacturer of rugged computers that meet the demands of field-based applications, is introducing its new flagship X500 rugged notebook computer. This computer combines the flexibility of their best-selling B300 with the customization and I/O expansion features of its A790 and the battlefield command size screen of the M230 to create the most powerful and ultra-rugged notebook in company history. The new X500 laptop is designed to work in the most extreme working environments and incorporates Intel's powerful Core i7 2.66GHz processor for stellar performance and speed.

As a veteran manufacturer and supplier of ultra-rugged notebook computers to the military, Getac uses its extensive experience and advanced technologies to produce its most powerful rugged system—with impressive graphical performance and expandability—to meet virtually every communications challenge that military personnel face today.

"Designed for our core military customers, the new X500 is the most powerful and configurable rugged notebook we’ve ever made,” said Jim Rimay, president, Getac. "New from the ground up, the X500, with it’s signature design, combines the best features of our B300, M230 and A790 models all while providing over twice the performance of the A790."

In addition to its powerful Intel Core i7 2.66GHz processor, Turbo Boost Technology reaching 3.33GHz gives processor-intensive applications an extra performance lift. Furthermore, the 4MB of Intel® Smart Cache, which is readily available for each of the processor cores, ensures maximum performance. Getac's X500 also offers a 15.6-inch, 1000 NITs QuadraClear high definition display and NVIDIA's GeForce GT330M MXM GPU with 512MB VRAM for outstanding multimedia performance. The X500 provides several options, additions and customizations to the system including a multi-touch screen, MIL-SPEC connectors and an expansion unit that can support either two PCI Express cards or two full-sized PCI cards for extreme customization needs.

The X500 can be easily customized to add USB 3.0 ports, Fiber Optic connections, RS-485 or a high-powered WiFi booster. Configured with dual storage drives, the X500 can operate as a RAID storage system.

The X500’s standard configuration is loaded with I/O ports and connectors including three USB 2.0 ports, one USB/eSATA combo port, two RS-232 serial ports, two PCMCIA ports, an ExpressCard, a SmartCard, dual RJ-45 ports, HDMI, VGA and a full-sized keyboard with numeric pad.

Beyond its overall performance, the Getac X500 is military-certified for operation in the most extreme conditions. The X500 is MIL-STD-810G certified for ruggedness and shock protection, and its IP65 rating protects the unit from water and dust. In addition, the X500 is MIL-STD-2169B for High Altitude Magnetic Pulse (HEMP), and its UL1604 certification ensures it can be safely operated where potentially flammable or explosive materials may be present. Other certified military standards include MIL-STD-464A, and is MIL-STD-461F ready. Lastly, the Getac X500 is NightVision-ready for use in battlefield environments and is EPEAT gold certified.
