Neurotech® Launches Kneehab® XP Quadriceps Therapy System in US

Muscle rehabilitation device clinically proven to accelerate recovery post ACL surgery

MINNEAPOLIS--()--Neurotech North America recently introduced to the US market the Kneehab XP, an innovative surface neurostimulation system that is clinically proven to strengthen quadriceps muscles and improve knee stability after surgery. A study published in the June 2011 issue of The American Journal of Sports Medicine (AJSM) entitled “The effectiveness of supplementing a standard rehabilitation program with super-imposed neuromuscular electrical stimulation following anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction” demonstrates that the addition of the Neurotech® Kneehab® XP Quadriceps Therapy System significantly and positively impacts patient recovery. The study can be accessed online by visiting www.neurotech.us.

Mauria Vallas Falcone, a physical therapist from Boston, Mass., used the Kneehab XP in her own rehabilitation following a total knee replacement. “Kneehab XP gave me enough strength and power to do more functional and therapeutic activities without causing pain. It is life-changing.”

The Kneehab XP system is a conductive garment that features a hand-held controller that delivers stimulation to the quadriceps area of the thigh. The system is easy to apply and is comfortable for the patient to wear which results in high levels of patient compliance.

Kneehab is cleared by the FDA and indicated for muscle re-education of the quadriceps, maintaining or increasing range of motion of the knee joint, preventing or retarding disuse atrophy in the quadriceps for early post-surgical quadriceps strengthening, improving post-surgical knee stability secondary to quadriceps strengthening, and increasing local blood circulation.

The device has shown to be an effective adjunct therapy for patients with atrophy of the quadriceps muscles as a result of sports injuries of the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL), lateral collateral ligament (LCL), medial collateral ligament (MCL), or posterior cruciate ligament (PCL); degenerative conditions including osteoarthritis; knee joint conditions including patella femoral pain syndrome (PFPS); and for strengthening the quadriceps pre and post surgery for ligament repair and knee replacement.

The Kneehab XP incorporates Multipath™, a patented breakthrough stimulation technology developed by Neurotech that stimulates the natural muscle recruitment sequence to maximize fiber contractions. Multipath is supported by the stimulation being applied to broad sections of the quadriceps region: more stimulation is applied over a wider area than standard electrotherapy resulting in better muscle recruitment and faster rehabilitation.

Kneehab is only available by prescription. For more information visit www.neurotech.us or call Neurotech at 866.453.0578 to find a distributor.
