Shuttle Express Ready with More Drivers, More Buses, Propane Vans

SEATTLE--()--Shuttle Express is geared up for its busiest season, hiring 30% more drivers since last summer, adding 9 new coaches, and running “greener” by converting its extensive van fleet from gasoline to clean-burning propane.

This summer, Seattle’s best-known airport transportation company will service record numbers of cruise ship passengers, Seattle tourists and summer travelers with its share ride and private services. The Renton-based company has added the Downtown Airporter service to its lineup, which provides direct service between downtown Seattle and the airport, 24 hours a day.

Company president John Rowley said they’re prepared: the fleet size has swelled to 100 vans, 15 buses and luxury coaches, and 75 sedans and limos; the driver and service support force now numbers over 200.

“We’ve ramped up our fleet and our driver force and to make sure we can deliver outstanding service every time for every service, from airport trips to wine tasting tours,” Rowley said. “We’ve also added some great experience and talent to key positions within our infrastructure. We’ve made over 100 hires this year alone -- not an easy task, but necessary to meet surging demand.”

Shuttle Express is also making impressive progress in its initiative to be environmentally-friendly by converting its van fleet to propane. Propane runs an estimated 90% cleaner in emissions. Shuttle Express uses an average of 800,000 gallons of fuel, traveling about 9 million miles per year, so the switch to propane will offer clear environmental advantages.

“We’re quickly moving toward a 100% propane-powered van fleet,” Rowley said. “We are committed to being the best transportation choice, and part of that means being the environment-friendly option for our guests.”
