LONDON--()--ASOS Fashion Finder launched their first consumer competition on 18th May and in the first three weeks has received 5,000 entries. The first prize for the Create a Festival Outfit competition is a trip for two to the Ibiza Rocks Closing Party in September, which stimulated interest from both male and female customers. Entrants can choose fashion items from over fifty retailers in the Fashion Finder shop and combine these with their own graphics to create their festival fashion outfits. The Fashion Finder editorial pieces on Coachella Festival and the forth-coming Glastonbury Festival provide inspiration to competition entrants.
This user-generated content provides great insight into community-driven trends and a preview of what the most popular looks will be at this summer’s festivals. Many users were inspired by this season’s seventies influences, creating Boho inspired outfits with floating, sheer maxi skirts, trilby hats and fringed accessories.
Others have embraced the novelty trend, experimenting with bold colours, clashing prints, and over-the-top embellishment for fun and carefree festival looks.
From male customers, outfit submissions include those with a strong nautical influence, featuring Breton tops, rolled up chinos and navy blazers. There is more traditional male festival wear on show as well, from band print t-shirts to distressed denim.
Almost every outfit created includes the festival essentials - a hat, sunglasses, and Converse trainers or flat sandals. Others have given a nod to unpredictable weather with stylish wellington boots. Each entrant has put their combination together in unique and creative ways, making it a tough job for the judges to pick the winners next month.
