Mechanics Bank Taps Insider for Top Corporate Banking Post

Scott McAdams, a 31-year veteran, to lead key unit

RICHMOND, Calif.--()--Mechanics Bank has chosen an insider to lead its Corporate Banking Group. Scott McAdams, who started his career 31 years ago at Mechanics Bank, has been named Senior Vice President, Corporate Banking Manager.

McAdams also joins the Bank’s Executive Committee, reporting to President and CEO, Steve Buster.

“It gives me great pleasure to promote from our ranks an individual of the professional caliber and personal integrity of Scott McAdams,” said Steve Buster, Mechanics Bank CEO. “Although we looked at plenty of outside candidates, Scott’s depth and breadth of experience in both Retail and Corporate Banking made him a strong contender. Especially given his demonstrated commitment to Mechanics Bank values, Scott is uniquely qualified to lead this important line of business.”

McAdams started his career in the Mechanics Bank equivalent of the corporate mail room, rolling coins in the Main Vault. He worked his way up through the ranks, step by step, from customer service representative to loan officer, assistant manager, office manager, then more and more senior client-facing roles in Corporate Banking.

While working fulltime, he managed to earn a BS in Business Administration from Sacramento State University, complete the Mechanics Bank Management Training Program, and polish off his MBA in Finance from Hayward State (now Cal State East Bay).

In 2006 he became the Regional Manager in Napa, where in the past four years—and despite a challenging economic climate—he and his team have doubled the loan portfolio and solidified Mechanics Bank’s reputation as a trusted partner.

Born and raised in Pinole, McAdams has been a Benicia resident for the past 20 years. He and his wife of 25 years have raised three daughters and much of his spare time has been taken up with coaching girls’ fast pitch softball. His youngest daughter’s traveling softball team, the Benicia Outlaws, qualified for the Western Regional Championship in Roseville last year. McAdams also enjoys waterskiing, playing golf and taking road trips around the U.S.

“How often in banking do you get the opportunity to have both career success and balance in your life?” said McAdams. “I’ve been lucky. Now, I’m looking forward to this next challenge, knowing we have a terrific team in place that brings vast experience to the job of continuing to grow and thrive.”
