SAN FRANCISCO--()--Ebates®, the pioneer and leader in online cash back shopping, found that online shoppers spend more on dad than mom. On average, Americans spent an average of $144 on dad last year, compared to just $82 dollars spent on mom last month for Mother’s Day.
“Whether you are getting your dad a pricey item or a more budget-friendly present, you can make him proud by being a smart shopper and getting cash back through Ebates”
The findings come with today’s announcement of Ebates’ Father’s Day sale. Shoppers can earn up to double cash back on all of dad’s favorite stores including: Brookstone, Eddie Bauer, The Home Depot, HSN, JCPenney, Land’s End, Lenovo, and Omaha Steaks.
“According to last year's sales through Ebates.com, computers and technology beat out any other gift idea for dads, said Kevin H. Johnson, CEO of Ebates. “Home improvement items and tools came in a close second, and these big-ticket purchases account for the higher amounts spent on dads versus moms.”
“We are expecting the number one gift this year to be consumer electronics like e-readers, tablets, and smart phones,” said Johnson. "Whether you are getting your dad a pricey item or a more budget-friendly present, you can make him proud by being a smart shopper and getting cash back through Ebates,” he added.
So which state spends the most on dad? According to Ebates, shoppers in Delaware spent the most on dad during the month of June 2010 for Father’s Day. Shoppers there spent an average of $491. Georgia, Oregon, Nevada, and Wyoming rounded out the top 5. And shoppers in Maine spent the least, averaging $30 dollars.
After comparing the figures, Ebates found that more money was spent on dad than on mom. According to the average amount spent in each state for Mother’s Day, Oregon came in first, averaging $137. North Dakota came in second, followed by Maryland, Kansas, and New York. The shoppers who spent the least on Mother’s Day were in the state of Alabama, averaging $56 dollars.
This special Father’s Day promotion runs through June 19.
