MAXIMUS Awarded $21 Million Child Welfare Contract Rebid in Wisconsin

-Company to Continue to Provide Eligibility Services for Foster Care and Adoption Assistance-

RESTON, Va.--()--MAXIMUS (NYSE:MMS), a leading provider of government services worldwide, announced today that its Human Services North America Division has won a renewal of its Title IV-E Foster Care and Adoption Assistance contract with the Wisconsin Department of Children and Families. The six-year contract runs through December 31, 2016 and includes two additional one-year option periods, for a total contract value of $21.2 million if all options are exercised.

As part of the Social Security Act, Title IV-E provides states with federal reimbursement funds to cover the costs of children who are placed in foster homes or other types of out-of-home care. By determining the IV-E eligibility and reimbursability of related costs for each child, a state can claim federal reimbursement for the child’s maintenance costs and for administrative and training costs associated with the child.

Under the current contract, MAXIMUS provides Title IV-E and Medicaid eligibility determination services, collection and maintenance of licensing data, and Supplemental Security Income (SSI) advocacy services. The Company also provides accounting services for the Social Security/Child Support Trust Fund.

MAXIMUS has provided Title IV-E assistance to the state of Wisconsin since 1996. The Company implemented the state’s statewide eligibility unit in 2001 and by 2003 was completing eligibility recommendations for all children in the foster care system across all 72 counties in Wisconsin.

“MAXIMUS has extensive experience in providing eligibility support services for our government clients across multiple public health and human services programs. Through its public-private partnership with MAXIMUS, Wisconsin is the only state in the U.S. that has passed its last two federal Title IV-E audits without any errors. This latest contract rebid award demonstrates the success of these partnerships for strengthening human services programs and improving the welfare of vulnerable children,” commented MAXIMUS CEO Richard Montoni.
