DFJ Gotham Ventures Adds Digital Media Veteran Joy Marcus as Venture Partner

NEW YORK--()--DFJ Gotham Ventures today announced that Joy Marcus, former GM of Dailymotion US and SVP of Global Marketing at Time Warner, has joined the firm as a Venture Partner. At DFJ Gotham, Joy will be focused on evaluating prospective investments and working with existing portfolio companies on strategy and business development.

“We’ve known Joy for years and have sought her perspective on a variety of media start-ups for quite some time,” said Danny Schultz, co-founder and Managing Director of DFJ Gotham. “Joy works exceptionally well with entrepreneurs and her strong sense of what startup CEOs need to do to grow their businesses makes her a superb addition to the DFJ Gotham family.”

“DFJ Gotham is right at the center of the next great wave of startups and I’m looking forward to helping these industry-changing businesses succeed,” said Ms. Marcus. “I’m excited by the new investments the firm is considering and the opportunity to work more closely with the existing portfolio companies.”

Named to the Digital Power 50 by The Hollywood Reporter for the last two years, Joy most recently took video website Dailymotion US from launch to its recent acquisition by Orange (France Telecom), more than quadrupling its audience and making it a partner of choice for content owners and advertisers. She is a regularly featured speaker at industry events including OMMA, NATPE and Digital Hollywood.

Prior to Dailymotion, Joy was SVP Global Marketing at Time Warner, VP Business Development at Barnes&Noble.com through the company’s IPO and VP International Business Development at MTV Networks. She began her career as an M&A lawyer at Debevoise & Plimpton.

Joy serves on the Advisory Board of Qoof, an Israeli video commerce company. She is also a member of the Boards of Directors of non-profits Young Audiences New York and Hoops4Hope. She is a graduate of Princeton University and New York University School of Law.
