“When we held our first charity golf tournament back in 2008 to support initiatives honoring military families residing in our communities, we had no idea just how successful the event would become,” says Bruce Robinson, President of Balfour Beatty Communities Foundation. “The continued outpouring of enthusiasm and support surrounding Swing 4 Scholarships has enabled us to continue to grow our scholarship program and other Foundation efforts, and we are looking forward to another opportunity to honor our military members and their families for the contributions they make to our country. On behalf of the Foundation, I would like to once again extend my sincere gratitude to all of our tournament participants and sponsors whose generosity makes it all possible.”
The tournament at the Ponte Vedra Inn & Club will begin with a $1 million hole-in-one shootout and a $5,000 putt contest. A shotgun start will follow with foursomes playing a scramble format, and prizes will be awarded to the 1st, 10th, 20th and last place finishers. The day will conclude with cocktail reception and dinner and awards ceremony.
All charity events sponsored by the Foundation support its commitment to honoring military personnel – active, wounded, and fallen – by establishing places for communal gathering and reflection, altering homes to accommodate their needs, and providing educational scholarships to the children of active duty service members living in Balfour Beatty Communities. Swing 4 Scholarships will focus on the particular mission of promoting the pursuit of education and a commitment to community leadership through educational scholarships.
