Davidson & Co., the largest full-service investment firm based in the Northwest, today announced senior research analyst JB Groh has been named the top analyst for his stock-picking prowess in the Heavy Machinery and Materials sector by The Wall Street Journal’s “Best on the Street” for 2010. Groh was also listed as the #2 analyst in the Aerospace and Defense sector. Fellow D.A. Davidson analysts Steve Chercover and Tim Ramey, received recognition as the #5 analyst in General Industrials and #3 analyst in Food and Tobacco sectors, respectively.

This year marks the fifth year in a row that Groh has received recognition from The Wall Street Journal. He has also received recognition in key financial analyst rankings from Forbes, The Financial Times and StarMine. Chercover received the ‘Best on the Street’ recognition in 2004 as well as receiving numerous recognitions for his analytic expertise from Forbes, Financial Times, Institutional Investor, and StarMine. This is the fourth year that Ramey has been recognized by the Wall Street Journal. Ramey was ranked first among top U.S. equity Food Industry analysts in the 2010 Financial Times and StarMine survey of analyst performance as well as being named “Best Brokerage Analyst” in 2009 by Forbes magazine.
The Wall Street Journal rankings are based on stock-picking ability, recognizing the analysts whose recommendations generated the best returns during 2010. The survey focuses on 44 industries thought to be of particular interest to investors. The top performing analysts were selected based on data from more than 6,800 analysts at more than 575 firms.
