Targus® and DisplayLink® Team on New Mini Dock for the Enterprise Market

Targus Will Base Its First Zero Client Shared Enterprise Computing Products On DisplayLink’s USB Virtual Graphics Technology

Interop Las Vegas 2011

LAS VEGAS & ANAHEIM, Calif.--()--INTEROP - Targus® Inc., maker of the world's top-selling laptop computer cases and accessories and DisplayLink®, market leader in USB graphics, today announced a technology partnership supporting Targus’ new Zero Client Mini Docking Station. The new mini dock seamlessly creates a low-cost multi-user computing environment that enables up to 14 users to simultaneously share the processing power of just one computer over USB.

Zero Client enabled multi-seat computing offers a multitude of benefits for the enterprise environment. Because businesses can now run multiple user workstations from one dedicated PC, they are reducing the host hardware requirement from 14 to one, which decreases the initial cost of acquisition as well as Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) across the life of the equipment. It also offers enhanced security and space saving in smaller work environments. The device’s ultra low power consumption helps to reduce a company’s carbon footprint and energy usage.

“In today’s economic climate, organizations are looking to cut costs while maximizing productivity,” said Carolyn Perrier, vice president of product management, accessories at Targus. “With our new Zero Client Mini Docking Station, we are helping organizations lower acquisition, deployment and support costs so they can in turn apply financial resources to other areas of their business.”

“Targus is a major global player and its commitment to the zero client market is proof that shared computing is on the rise,” said Dennis Crespo, DisplayLink executive vice president of marketing and business development. “We are excited to team with Targus and provide easy to use enterprise computing solutions.”

Targus’ Zero Client Mini Docking Station employs DisplayLink’s USB virtual graphics for Windows MultiPoint Server 2011, which supports up to 14 clients with 14 different OS sessions. It allows high-performance Windows multi-seat computing at no additional cost, which is ideal for environments such as call centers, hotel business centers or airport lounges.

Targus will release two versions of the Zero Client Mini Docking Station this summer - Zero Client Mini Docking Station – USB (ACP67USZ); and the Zero Client Mini Docking Station - PS2 (ACP68USZ) both at an MSRP of $99.99.
