Smith Micro Software Unveils New Version of Its Enterprise File Transfer Service SendStuffNow

Cloud-Based FTP Replacement Features Active Directory Integration, Flexible Pricing Model and Increased Inbox Functionality

Interop Las Vegas 2011

LAS VEGAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Smith Micro Software, Inc. (NASDAQ: SMSI), a leading developer and marketer of software solutions and services for the mobility market, today launched an update of its secure, cloud-based enterprise file transfer service, the SendStuffNow™ solution, designed to meet the growing file transfer and management needs of business users.

“With SendStuffNow 2.1, professional users have access to a streamlined, flexible and unquestionably secure file transfer and management system. We are excited to offer the service to our enterprise and SMB customers immediately, with a flexible pricing model that meets each organization’s unique needs.”

A modern, cost effective and secure replacement for traditional FTP-based file transfer solutions, SendStuffNow ensures quick delivery of files too large to send via email. New inbox functionality enables users to both send and receive files via the cloud, for easy collaboration. Users can receive files from non-account holders, with the service’s new Upload Access feature. The solution allows users to control access to the Upload Access feature on a user by user basis. This key differentiator grants users more user control over file transfers than any other solution. SendStuffNow 2.1 also allows customization of file download pages, for a branded look and feel.

SendStuffNow 2.1 integrates directly with a business’s existing Active Directory, providing users with the ability to leverage existing policy and use management tools. This simplifies the deployment process for IT managers and enables organizations to both manage accounts and automatically authenticate users. Encrypted with an x.509 certificate, the SendStuffNow server can be configured to refresh this database every 24 hours, ensuring new employees receive accounts and old accounts are disabled. Active Directory integration capabilities include single sign-on, so users can log in using their domain username and password. Information required by the SendStuffNow Gateway to access information in the directory is configured by the organization’s IT administrator, and is never sent or shared with the SendStuffNow cloud server. SendStuffNow is also fully integrated with Outlook® on the enterprise desktop making the product seamless to use.

“Traditional FTP is a poor fit for the file transfer needs of modern enterprise IT departments. FTP is hard to use, and provides little support for the need to track and audit employee file transfer activity. We created the Enterprise Edition of SendStuffNow specifically to address the requirements of enterprises and SMBs,” said Matthew Covington, Senior Director of Product Management, Enterprise Solutions. “With SendStuffNow 2.1, professional users have access to a streamlined, flexible and unquestionably secure file transfer and management system. We are excited to offer the service to our enterprise and SMB customers immediately, with a flexible pricing model that meets each organization’s unique needs.”

The SendStuffNow enterprise application leverages Smith Micro Software’s more than 20 years of experience in file compression and encryption, offering cutting-edge, file-level encryption technology to address concerns regarding the security of cloud-based file transfer solutions. SendStuffNow offers AES 256bit encryption of both Zip and StuffIt® archives due to its use of the StuffIt compression engine. In addition to providing file-level encryption to protect data at rest in the cloud, SendStuffNow uses a Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) to encrypt all communications between the server, clients and web browser. SendStuffNow’s robust administrative tools allow for better compliance and control of files, an important capability for businesses and enterprises.

SendStuffNow apps are currently available for Windows® Phone 7, Android®, iPhone® and iPad® devices. SendStuffNow can be integrated directly into Microsoft Outlook on the Windows desktop, or can be accessed from a secure web portal.
