TORONTO--()--Poker.ca (http://www.poker.ca) released a report last week about the challenges faced by the major online poker rooms that were shut down by the U.S. government on April 15. PokerStars, Full Tilt Poker, and Absolute Poker are in a tough position that promises a long struggle to regain players’ trust after being charged with serious criminal accusations.

According to the Poker.ca report, PokerStars, Full Tilt Poker, and Absolute Poker might have difficulties keeping their strong reputation in Canada after the FBI shut them down. Since April 15, players have shown a distinct pattern of movement from these popular sites to other major platforms that are officially traded, or soon to be traded, on the stock market, such as 888 Poker, Party Poker and MyWin.
PokerStars questioned the accuracy of the Poker.ca report. In response, Paul Ryan, a spokesman from Poker.ca, said, "The poker industry is going through a legislation process worldwide, which may eventually include the U.S. I believe companies that abided by American laws will survive in the long term if and when the U.S. grants online poker licenses. One example is Party Poker, who settled with the DOJ for more than $100 million to keep in good standing. These forward-looking decisions will pay off very soon."
He went on to explain, “The major hit that some poker operators have received from the U.S. authorities will affect the activity and the size of these poker rooms. PokerStars, Full Tilt, and others are dealing with the FBI runaround, and nobody knows how the case will be settled."
“Poker.ca has the responsibility to inform readers about these developments,” Ryan said. “Canadian poker fans deserve to have all the information before they decide whether or not to trust their money to sites that are under investigation. We prefer that players partner with sites like 888 Poker (http://www.poker.ca/888-poker-review) that are here for the long term.”
