NaviNet Expands Management Team with Two Senior Executives to Lead Clinical and Mobile Solution Development and Delivery

S. Michael Ross, M.D., MHA, Named Chief Medical Officer; David Kates Joins as Senior Vice President of Product Management and Clinical Strategy

Michael Ross, M.D., MHA, joins as chief medical officer and David Kates joins as senior vice president of Product Management and Clinical Strategy, bringing a collective 55 years of clinical and technology expertise to the frontlines as the company continues to deliver innovative clinical and mobile solutions to address provider and payer business challenges. The addition of Dr. Ross and Mr. Kates to the NaviNet management team further strengthens the company’s mission to advance the efficiency and quality of healthcare through solutions for patient-centric healthcare information management.

In his role as chief medical officer, Dr. Ross is responsible for leading the clinical direction of NaviNet and providing guidance to teams developing NaviNet solutions and services to assist healthcare professionals and health plans in improving care delivery and quality. Prior to joining NaviNet, Ross served as chief medical officer and senior vice president of Business Development at Prematics, a leading provider of mobile care management solutions, which was acquired by NaviNet in 2010. In this role, Ross was responsible for helping health plan customers efficiently leverage the e-prescribing platform to improve communications with providers and members. Ross previously served as vice president of Healthcare at Varolii Corporation, vice president of Strategic Business at the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia and as chief executive officer of Advanced Concepts Institute, a USP research group focused on the adoption of health information technology and its impact.

As the senior vice president of Product Management and Clinical Strategy at NaviNet, Mr. Kates works closely with the product development team to establish the direction for multiple product lines to advance the efficiency and quality of healthcare. Prior to joining NaviNet, Kates served as the senior vice president of Business and Product Strategy at Prematics. Kates previously held senior level management positions at Hx Technologies and WebMD, now Sage Software. Kates currently serves as co-chair for the Certification Commission for Health Information Technology (CCHIT), is a member of the Health Information Technology Standards Panel (HITSP) and is a past board member of HL7. He has served in leadership positions within the Health Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS), American Health Information Community (AHIC) and the national eHealth Initiative.

With guidance from both Dr. Ross and Mr. Kates, NaviNet recently launched its mobile care management platform, NaviNet Mobile Connect, which enables the delivery of intelligent, actionable patient-related information to physicians via handheld devices, helping to close care gaps, enhance care management and coordination, and improve treatment plan adherence.
