More than 5,000 Already Registered for First Annual Ridiculous Obstacle Challenge (ROC) Race

Additional ROC Races in Major Cities to Be Announced Soon

SAN DIEGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--VAVi Sport & Social Club (VAVi), San Diego’s premier coordinator of sports leagues, races, social events, and charity opportunities, today announced that registration for the first annual Ridiculous Obstacle Challenge (ROC) Race taking place at the Del Mar Race Track and Fairgrounds on May 21, 2011 has already exceeded 5,000 and is expected to sell out by race day. Inspired by television’s popular obstacle course game shows, the 5K race will feature outrageous and challenging obstacles providing fun and entertainment for both competitors and spectators.

With more than 50,000 members, VAVi has already seen success launching non-traditional adult sports leagues that include kickball, dodgeball and inner tube water polo. VAVi expects the ROC Race to exceed 7,000 participants by race day and will soon announce additional dates and locations nationwide.

The 5K ROC Race will challenge individuals and teams to conquer more than 20 outrageous obstacles including foam climbs, swinging ropes over water, ball hill climbs, swinging boulders, cargo nets, harassing role players, inflatable slides and more.

Registration options include individual competitors, four-person teams and unlimited team sign-ups (for groups of five or more). Awards will be given out in each category for best ROC Race times and best costumes worn for the race.
