Liferay Doubles First Quarter Revenues

Open Source Leader Enjoys Strong Growth and Creates New Offerings

LOS ANGELES--()--Liferay, provider of the world’s leading enterprise-class open source portal, today announced that its revenues during the first fiscal quarter of 2011 are up 100 percent year-over-year.

“We have been fortunate to win the favor of this market,” said Bryan Cheung, CEO of Liferay, Inc. “CIOs are making Liferay their strategic platform for web sites, social workspaces, and web applications. Using Liferay, developers can quickly build the applications envisioned by business decision makers and deploy them to a stable and secure environment. The market has shown that our Java-based platform can be used in both mission critical and departmental applications.”

Liferay’s fiscal performance comes in the context of larger growth momentum for the company, as shown by:

  • Channel acceleration - Liferay now has more than 100 channel partners worldwide; sixty of these were added in 2010.
  • Community adoption - The number of Liferay downloads continues to increase significantly. Of the 30 app server plug-ins listed on the Eclipse IDE Marketplace, Liferay is the sixth most popular.
  • Technical partnership - Liferay partnered with MuleSoft, maker of open source Mule ESB and MuleSoft TCat Server, a value-added distribution of Apache Tomcat. Liferay is now offering a Liferay Portal Enterprise Edition (EE) bundle with Tcat Server pre-installed and provides end-to-end support for customers of both products.

Moving into the second fiscal quarter of 2011, Liferay will focus on expanding new opportunities for its ecosystem of partners and developers. At its upcoming East Coast Symposium (Greater Washington, D.C., May 10-11), the company will preview the much-anticipated Liferay Marketplace, which will rapidly expand the inventory of ready-made business applications available for the Liferay platform.
