DeNA’s Quarter Saw the Continued Growth of Leading Social Game Platform Mobage in Japan, Increasing Network of Partners and Catalog of Games, Strong Sales

DeNA’s Annual Revenues More Than Doubled, Company Grew with Strategic Acquisitions, Partnerships, Technology and Consumer Services

SAN FRANCISCO--()--DeNA, the leading global mobile and social games company, has announced today that its fourth quarter net sales performance was $393 million*, 67.5 percent higher than last year’s final quarter. Reporting its sixth consecutive quarter of increasing revenues, DeNA has also confirmed that the company has met its goals, with 1.38 billion dollars in sales for the fiscal year.

“DeNA has met, if not exceeded, every goal we set for the company,” Tomoko Namba, CEO, DeNA, said. “We are very pleased and proud of our exceptional year in sales. Our diverse catalog, market expanding strategies and dedication to leadership in technology has fueled our global growth. We are looking forward to making our social mobile platform for games, Mobage, truly global in the coming year.”

During the last quarter, DeNA expanded the number of Mobage Open Platform titles for both in-house and third-party games, with more than 1,000 games now in the network. The company unified the Mobage brand between Japan and the West, replacing its original Mobage-Town in Japan; Mobage is set to roll out in the West in the coming months. In its fourth quarter, DeNA also focused on the Japanese earthquake and tsunami disaster relief efforts through major donations, opening employment to persons from affected areas and creating support activities through DeNA products and services.

In the fiscal year, which ended March 31, 2011, DeNA charted a path toward building the top global social game platform, employing a multi-pronged strategy. The mobile giant made global acquisitions such as the Western mobile game leader ngmoco and mobile app studio Gameview, as part of the company’s X-Border/X-Device strategy. DeNA expanded its partner network worldwide, with major carriers like NTT Docomo and hardware leaders such as Samsung. The company focused resources and talent on building a global game engine and a diverse game catalog for Mobage, slated to launch internationally in 2011.

DeNA currently projects an aggressive growth plan to reach 2.4 billion dollars in operating income for 2014. Mapping a plan to achieve its vision, the company will roll out Mobage in the West and in China, and promote its Open Platform strategy globally, including key markets Japan, China, North America and Europe. DeNA will also continue to build further alliances with hardware and telecom companies to rapidly open up its services to a massive user base and attract great developers worldwide.
