Fuel Mileage Overachievers Have Students Seeing Green during Koeppel Auto Group’s First Annual Green Car Show

Students joined Koeppel Auto Group to learn how greener driving habits and vehicles that achieve excellent fuel mileage can help the environment

QUEENS, N.Y.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Fuel mileage is a top concern because of gas prices, and Koeppel Auto Group is advocating best practices and vehicles to help future drivers achieve excellent fuel mileage.

The auto group joined eighth grade students from I.S. 204Q, a District 30 Magnet school, during a session of their “Living Green in a Global Society,” curriculum. Koeppel Auto Group gave an interactive presentation and Green Car Show about fuel-efficient, hybrid and electric vehicles.

Koeppel representatives told students there are green technologies available today to boost fuel mileage and reduce emissions such as the Versa and all-electric Nissan LEAF.

Koeppel Auto Group also displayed green cars from four dealerships for students to explore. They included the:

• 2011 Nissan Altima Hybrid – a hybrid sedan featuring fuel economy of 33 mpg highway, 33 mpg city.
• 2011 Nissan Versa – a compact vehicle in sedan or hatchback offering 34 mpg highway, 28 mpg city.
• 2011 MAZDA2 – a subcompact car earning up to 35 mpg highway, 29 mpg city.
• 2011 Volkswagen Golf TDI – a turbocharged clean diesel vehicle rated as 42 mpg highway, 30 mpg city.
• 2011 Subaru Forester – a compact SUV delivering up to 27 mpg highway, 21 mpg city.

These five fuel-efficient vehicles showed students how automakers and dealerships from Koeppel Auto Group are giving drivers a choice for reducing their fuel consumption and their carbon footprint in the environment.
