“Solar policy: Building the clean energy economy, from your community to Capitol Hill” |
|
| Groups across the country are working to make solar a mainstream energy source in the U.S., but what exactly is being done and where? What’s the best way for activists to plug into the solar advocacy network? | ||
|
Event Details: |
Tony Clifford along with other environmental leaders will gather to discuss what’s on the horizon for the solar community and how to help build markets and pass pro-solar policies at any level. Local policy advocacy can have a significant impact on national efforts and vice-versa; solar advocacy groups are just beginning to coordinate their efforts and tap into this potential to create a truly national market for solar energy. By the end of the discussion, participants will understand: |
- How national, state and local solar policy work together to create (or preclude) solar markets
- What solar advocacy groups are out there, how they work and what they are doing
- How local groups can plug into existing advocacy efforts and help create more solar energy in their communities.
Power Shift 2011 is a project of the Energy Action Coalition and will be held at Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington, DC. EPA Administrator Lisa P. Jackson and former Vice President and Nobel Laureate Al Gore will also speak at this year’s event.
