CloudBees Named "Cool Vendor" by Leading Industry Analyst Firm

CloudBees listed among industry analyst firm’s 2011 Platform-As-a-Service (PaaS) “Cool Vendors”

BOSTON--()--CloudBees, the innovation leader in cloud computing for Java, today announced that it has been included in the list of “Cool Vendors” in its “Cool Vendors in Platform-As-Service, 2011” report by Yefim Natis and Thomas Murphy.

PaaS is essentially middleware for the cloud, or the software infrastructure needed to run applications in the cloud. According to Gartner, “The market today is highly fragmented, with many vendors offering partial PaaS solutions.” Additionally, “many companies are seeking to utilize continuous integration as part of their move to more agile development practices. This requires the set of a build environment as well as tools.”

CloudBees provides the only develop-to-deploy PaaS solution for Java environments with two services: DEV@cloud and RUN@cloud. With the CloudBees Platform, developers handle their entire application lifecycle in the cloud, from development to deployment—with no need to worry about IT matters such as servers, virtual machines, clustering or scaling. The platform serves more than 4,500 customers. To date, more than 250,000 Jenkins build minutes have been logged on DEV@cloud and more than 21,000 application deployments have been launched on RUN@cloud.

“We’re honored to be recognized by Gartner as a Cool Vendor in the 2011 PaaS market,” said Sacha Labourey, CEO and founder of CloudBees. “As the only Java PaaS today that handles the complete develop to deploy application lifecycle, CloudBees is well-positioned to be a key player in this critical cloud market, which is expected to see a lot of activity this year. Our vision is to provide the easiest, most agile development to deployment infrastructure services so application developers can focus on what really matters — the application.”
