American Express Platinum Card® Packs on the Perks for International Travelers

Priority Pass™ Select, Global Entry and Elimination of Foreign Currency Transaction Fees Make Platinum Card® Membership Even More Valuable

NEW YORK--()--American Express today announces the addition of three new benefits to its Platinum Card to help make international travel more enjoyable and less stressful, even in the face of increasing flight delays, endless airport lines and mounting incidental travel fees. The additions include new international lounge access, the opportunity to zip through International Arrivals at U.S. airports and the elimination of foreign exchange fees. These new benefits reinforce the Platinum Card as a smart choice for travelers looking to get more value for their money and time, at home or abroad.

U.S. consumer and small business Card members can enroll and learn more about the following new benefits beginning today at americanexpress.com/transformtravel:

1.

Priority Pass™ Select – Card members can now take a break from the chaotic airport terminals with the help of Priority Pass Select, which provides access to more than 600 international airport lounges in more than 100 countries and more than 300 cities worldwide. After enrolling in the program at americanexpress.com/transformtravel, Card members will receive their Priority Pass Select card in the mail and can begin enjoying the relaxing ambience of the lounges that include a variety of benefits such as complimentary refreshments, snacks and internet access. This new international travel benefit extends the already robust airport lounge program that provides access into domestic airport club lounges for American Airlines Admirals Club®, Delta Sky ClubTM and US Airways® Club.

2.

$100 Global Entry Credit – The U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) offers a program called Global Entry that allows approved members expedited clearance and the ability to bypass lines at International Arrivals in major U.S. airports when returning from traveling abroad. Card members who apply and pay the application fee of $100 with their Platinum Card will receive a statement credit. And once the application is approved, the membership will be valid for five years.

3.

Elimination of Foreign Currency Transaction Fees – Platinum Card members can now shop like locals no matter what country they are visiting. Effective immediately, Card members will not be charged the 2.7 percent foreign currency transaction fees on international purchases when they use their Platinum Card.

“We know our Platinum Card members are passionate about international travel, and we want their Card to provide them with the same level of exceptional service, access and value whether they are home or halfway around the world,” said Robin Korn, Senior Vice President and General Manager, Consumer Charge Cards, American Express. “And with the launch of these new benefits, combined with the suite of existing ones, the Platinum Card is truly the passport to a premium travel experience."

These latest travel additions complement a core of more than 40 ever-evolving, valuable Card benefits, services and protections that include:

$200 Airline Fee Credit – Card members can check a bag or enjoy an in-flight meal on American Express. They will receive up to $200 per year in credits towards incidental airline fees that are charged on the Card member’s enrolled Platinum Card on their selected airline. The $200 Airline Fee Credit can apply to baggage fees, flight change fees, in-flight food and airport lounge day passes. Card members need to enroll and select the qualifying airline of choice online at americanexpress.com/transformtravel.

20% Travel Bonus – When Card members use the Membership Rewards® Pay with Points feature to pay for part or all of their travel including airlines, hotels, cruises and vacation packages, they will get 20% of those points credited back to their account to bring them closer to their next trip. Notably, the Pay with Points feature allows Card members to purchase any category of ticket, on any airline, at any time, with no blackout dates or restrictions.

Fine Hotels & Resorts Program: Card members who stay at one of more than 700 exceptional properties that are a part of the Fine Hotels & Resorts Program will receive a room upgrade (upon availability), daily continental breakfast for two, 4 p.m. late check-out and an additional special amenity worth a minimum of $450 per stay.

Platinum Travel Service and Platinum Card Concierge: Card members have access to the Platinum Travel Service – 24-hours a day, 365 days a year – to help them plan both business and leisure trips. And the Platinum Card Concierge service can round out the travel experience by helping secure restaurant reservations, tickets to attractions and shows and more.
