Children’s Hospital Los Angeles Launches Interactive Online Game Featuring L.A. Sports Stars from the Lakers, Dodgers, Kings and Galaxy

Pau Gasol, Luc Robitaille, Landon Donovan and James Loney Provide a Unique and Fun Introduction to the New Pediatric Hospital Building, Opening in July

LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Children’s Hospital Los Angeles today unveiled “Where’s Pau Now?,” the first in a four-part online interactive game series featuring four prominent L.A. sports figures: L.A. Lakers forward and NBA All Star Pau Gasol; former L.A. Kings left wing and hockey Hall of Famer Luc Robitaille; L.A. Galaxy and U.S. National Team forward Landon Donovan; and L.A. Dodgers first baseman James Loney.

“Since I've joined the Galaxy, I've had the opportunity to visit Children's Hospital Los Angeles many times”

Each series of the game features a player “hiding” in various areas throughout the new and existing hospital. Participants are given multiple choice options to guess the player’s location for the chance to accumulate points—those with the highest point score at the end of the individual game series will be put into a drawing for prizes, such as autographed gear and game tickets. The game may be found at CHLA.org/Pau.

“The game was created as a fun and unique way to engage and introduce the community to our state-of-the-art pediatric hospital building that will open in July,” said DeAnn Marshall, vice president and chief marketing officer, Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. “Participants will get sneak peeks into the new hospital building, learn about its cutting-edge technology, amenities and services and see how the new hospital specifically caters to children, adolescents and their families.”

“Children’s Hospital Los Angeles has become a big part of my life recently and I have a great respect for the incredible work they do,” said Gasol. “I was thrilled to be part of this game and help promote the new hospital building. It is truly a state-of-the-art facility that is going to positively change the lives of so many children in need.”

Following “Where’s Pau Now,” participants will be invited to “Look for Luc,” then “Locate Landon,” and “Find James First” leading up to and following the opening of the new hospital building:

  • “Where’s Pau Now?” featuring Pau Gasol: April 1 – May 5, 2011
  • “Look for Luc” featuring Luc Robitaille: May 7 – June 10, 2011
  • “Locate Landon” featuring Landon Donovan: June 12 – July 16, 2011
  • “Find James First” featuring James Loney: July 18 – August 20, 2011

“Children’s Hospital Los Angeles is a very special place,” said Robitaille. “I’m honored to give back to a wonderful organization that gives so much to the community.”

"Since I've joined the Galaxy, I've had the opportunity to visit Children's Hospital Los Angeles many times,” said Donovan. “I am honored to be a part of all that they do to improve the lives of children in need."

“We greatly appreciate the generosity and continued support shown by Pau, Luc, Landon and James, as well as their respective teams,” said Richard Cordova, President and CEO, Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. “By donating time out of their very busy schedules, they’ve helped us bring this game to life and connect with the community during an incredibly important time in our history.”
